The GUI Blog.com: News http://theguiblog.com/ Latest news on BASIC GUIs and Shells Costa 1.0.0 by TheWalrus http://theguiblog.com/gui.php?guis=17 At last, after almost a decade of hobby coding, Costa har reached the 1.0.0milestone and is no longer in the BETA phase! I worked on various TUI (Text-mode User Interfaces) from 2001 onwards, before swicthing to GUI developmentand releasing the first version with the name Costa in 2004.Since version 0.9.9, not much has changed - the focus has been on improvingstability, and fixing any bugs I could stumble upon.I'm pleased that Costa actually reached version 1.0.0, considering how very little time I've been able to spend on it an how I've been devoted to other projects. But here it is!Costa 1.0.0 2012-05-17 18:52:48 GUIs on Facebook by Brandon http://theguiblog.com/gui.php?guis=-1 I just created a Facebook page that you can 'like' that is for DOS GUIs:http://www.facebook.com/dosguis 2012-04-06 19:02:35 Version 1.5 by Dick http://theguiblog.com/gui.php?guis=25 I should probably upload this one with the proper text editor to replace the current uploaded version. Also has the new resizable file manager. right click and hold to select files/mutliple files. ctrl+x to copy ctrl+v to paste ctrl+m to move, Delete key to delete. ctrl+click to open file in new window. .BAS and .TXT file open in text editor. everything should be fairly error free. Dick's FB GUI version 1.5 2012-01-04 19:11:43 Progress by Dick http://theguiblog.com/gui.php?guis=25 I've fixed up the text editor and it now uses doubly linked lists which makes editing/inserting/ etc pretty fast and memory efficient. It's 100% functional now and opens/saves files perfectly. Prefect scolling and resizing too. As you can see by the picture, I've made the file manager fully resizable and you can now select groups of files which are ready to be copied/moved/or deleted anywhere and across multiple windows. The file manager geometry is very polished and you can safely scroll / resize and select any size and any direction. There's still many things to add before I can release a full version 2, but I'll post my progress here for now. 2012-01-03 17:54:59 Bitmap load & resizing, improved menu, & improved background etc by Dick http://theguiblog.com/gui.php?guis=25 I have now added ability to load 8bit bmp files and those files can be moved around, resized, & multiple at a time. To resize a bmp image, left click on it and hold while moving the mouse. To bring it back to original size and palette, right click on it. I have added submenus to my menus now, so thats cool. I've also added the option of disabling/centering/& stretching the background. It's quite amazing how much you can get done without QB's limits dragging you down. And best of all, it's fairly functional at 3000 dosbox cycles, although image stuff is slow. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AADPUNbInvw Here is a video ofcourse, notice the conflicting palettes. sample images provided. Dick's GUI FB32-3 2011-12-26 06:26:37 The Blog: FILTERED by Brandon http://theguiblog.com/gui.php?guis=-1 I got sick of stupid CSS stuff, now all posts are filtered, only img and a tags are allowed. Congrats guys, you got the blog to the point that it needed this.Oh, and if your signature had any CSS garbage, it's been deleted. 2011-12-03 11:46:07 Navaska E12 by Jason http://theguiblog.com/gui.php?guis=0 I've begun work on E12. I've designed a syntax which I find user friendly, hopefully this will attract developers. It's designed to support:  • Multiple brackets in expressions  • If, for, and loop constructs with multiline support  • Global variables  • Library driven (default libraries specified via global variables) 2011-12-02 10:03:40 GUI Awards 2011 by Brandon http://theguiblog.com/gui.php?guis=-1 It's that time of year again. Starting now, you can enter your GUI, just make sure you include the author's name, the GUI name, GUI version, and a download link. Sign-ups will run until midnight EST on the 25th of December (Christmas). At that time I'll post a list of all entered GUIs, so judges can ranks them and e-mail me their decisions, by the 30th so I can publish the results. A few notes: 1. People who enter can judge, they just must do so fairly. 2. Judges can judges based on whatever merit they choose, however, if asked, they must explain what merit they are judging on. 3. You can enter a GUI if you are a fan and not the original author, however please wait until the last week of sign-ups to do so, in case the developer wants to enter it themselves. Good luck guys :) 2011-11-30 16:01:56 Good news! by tacodrake95 http://theguiblog.com/gui.php?guis=29 I have set up my new computer and have started working on Cyclops, however, I can't test it because My mouse isn't working. But I have been making some revisions and additions. 2011-10-15 20:15:20 Cyclops Idea by tacodrake95 http://theguiblog.com/gui.php?guis=29 I have decided to design a few items for Cyclops and i would like some feedback before i develop them. 2011-10-10 15:34:54 Ideas by tacodrake95 http://theguiblog.com/gui.php?guis=29 I am rethinking the architecture of Cyclops and i would like some input please. First off, i was wondering if anyone knows where to find a list of application types that are considered "essential" in a GUI system. I had a much further progressed version of Cyclops ready to upload, but due to the unfortunate circumstances of a harddrive crash, was unable to upload them in time. I am trying ti figure out what this gui needs. Also, i am working on a multi windowed system. 2011-10-03 14:56:12 video 1.5 by ifcifc http://theguiblog.com/gui.php?guis=38 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dnsosq0WsTw 2011-09-04 19:27:05 Daitai by ifcifc http://theguiblog.com/gui.php?guis=38 Vercion 1.5descargahttp://www.mediafire.com/download.php?0u9d7sid2htb9c7 2011-09-04 00:55:11 New F57 Status Image by Brandon http://theguiblog.com/gui.php?guis=1 To go with the Blog's generated one, I am making one:http://brandoncornell.com/FUN500.PNG 2011-06-23 16:03:18 Mid-Year Blog News by Brandon http://theguiblog.com/gui.php?guis=-1 The forums have been fairly quiet for the last couple months, so as admin I felt it necessary to keep you all up-to date.Currently there are no plans upgrade the Blog's CMS in the near future, things that were discussed and brainstormed in the past may eventually be integrated, however at the moment there is no need.Oh and to anyone who thinks the GUI community is dead, I counted 8 GUI releases this year, which should lead to an interesting GUI Awards.Oh, I recently got 3 486SX machines that are ready for GUIs. 2011-06-17 16:12:24 New version features mouse selection of groups of files by Dick http://theguiblog.com/gui.php?guis=25 This version is incomplete and unstable, but shows the potential for intertabbed file operations with groups of files being selected by the right mouse buttonDick's GUI 5 2011-06-11 03:12:47 Fully tabbed GUI file manager for DOS by Dick http://theguiblog.com/gui.php?guis=25 Welcome to Dick's GUI file manager for DOS.This is a pretty good program. If you discover any bugs, please do let me know so that I can fix them for the final 1.0 release. Also feel free to hand me any icons you make - Costa has a nice selection, but more are always welcome :)Costa 0.9.9 2011-05-01 12:43:18
