ToddRe:Lack of reviews
GUI reviews? I reviewed a bunch recently a couple weeks ago on my site. Feel free to post ones here I didn't get or upload them to my site.

JasonRe:Lack of reviews
Todd, can you please make it so that you can view the guis in a different order? eg: date, score, download count, alphabetically
edit: some people are like 15 years old and its a surprise that they made a gui. i was ~12 when i wrote Cobra, the piece of shit. so where the fuck is my motivation if i dont get a pat on the back once in a while?

Fun500 GUI 2005: "A SECRET: It was written by a 6th grader! How amazing is that?"
You know what? Never mind.

ToddRe:Lack of reviews
Mind you I was 14 when I reviewed those GUIs. I won't lie - it was encouragement for Brandon since he was a newbie on JacobPalm.dk who released a GUI and wanted to keep doing more. If it's any consolation, when I released a GUI, it was usually shot down because it was either too slow or too buggy (or both). I eventually gave up on QB GUI development because I lost interest and wanted to try other things. I never received encouragement except to just quit. I reviewed your GUI Cobra without it because I saw GUI reviewing as different than I did years ago.

If it really bothers you, I can note that you were 12 when you made it.

JasonRe:Lack of reviews
Finally, a proper answer. I didn't see jacobpalm.dk so I assumed that that everyone was encouraging him as so were you. I wonder why bc hates me though...

Hey Todd, a review of Millennium OS 2011 would be most appreciated :-)

RetroMRe:Lack of reviews
That was "fileshare.us.tt" was actually quite useful back in the day. chances are though that all those files have been deleted.

ToddRe:Lack of reviews
I think I may have backed up FileShare.us.tt some years ago. It's obviously succeeded by http://www.sixbynine.net/filequick/ . Eventually I'll make the whole website into a file storage service.

I'll take a look on my backup drive and see if I still have it. Are you sure it was FileShare? And not FileQuick? FileQuick launched in June 2008.

RetroMRe:Lack of reviews
Am I the only one that has trouble loading sixbynine's front page?

ToddRe:Lack of reviews
Yes.

JFKRe:Lack of reviews
well is there any chance one of you could build a wattcp compat text based web browser? so use the base of your GUI to make a very light dos browser... currently doscore uses doslynx which works fine and our (gui based) web browser is still way toooo buggy to distribute to the public all credit to the creators (of course) and i will bundle it with doscore or use the doscore boot system to make a bootable sole purpose web browser boot cd (which already auto detects NIC's and networks)

pharoahRe:Lack of reviews
Well, that belongs in its own thread. But I wouldn't hold out hope. It's a difficult project to render HTML, and any of the other associated technologies makes it even more difficult. I doubt anyone here has the time and/or inclination to do such a thing.

JFKRe:Lack of reviews
even a text based browser? yeh i know it needs its own topic... iz just thinking for getting more reviews up why do the GUI's have to be like OS guis (such as fun 500, Seal etc) why cant it be other types of guis?

ToddRe:Lack of reviews
Speaking of more reviews up, I have reviewed M-OS 2011 and Fun500 GUI versions 5.1.1 and 5.6.3.

RetroMRe:Lack of reviews
Thanks Todd. and about the whole html browser thing, the guy who wrote gimi (sebastian mate) also wrote a text based web browser which was open source, so perhaps somebody could use code from that or improve the original program.

BrandonRe:Lack of reviews
Fun500 GUI versions 5.1.1 and 5.6.3? I'm at school and your site is blocked, so I can't tell, but I'm assuming that was a typo, and you mean 6.3 not 5.6.3 :P
As far as the original topic of wanting more reviews, it's true that their aren't many besides Todd's and often he's behind a year or two in the latest releases. It would be nice if when someone downloads and tries a GUI they take a second to add about 200 characters or so (text message lenght) in the pros and cons of the GUI that they tried, to help authors see what people would like to see.
And as far as JFKs completely off topic request for an HTML browser, lol. Thats a major project and not one that someone is likely to sign up for.
iz just thinking for getting more reviews up why do the GUI's have to be like OS guis (such as fun 500, Seal etc) why cant it be other types of guis? This site is really for DOS Shells, Todd has a lot of reviews of other GUIs, but other types of GUIs might not really fit the design of the site, and of course the biggest reason is that no one really just sits down and writes GUIs for other purposes (for DOS) these days.

JFKRe:Lack of reviews
im not fishing for a browser... im suggesting GUI's past the Dos Shell as such... like internel programs of your guis and how the layouts are good or whateva... was just a suggestion fo rthe whole "we need more reviews" so make more sub-categories we can review..? im just riffing.
