I am going to Walt Disney World: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Walt_Disney_World_Resort And will be back the 31st.While I am gone I don't plan to be here, unless I'm lucky and my mom lets me get on-line. BrandonRe:Vacation
I just ordered a new video card: GeForce 6600 Video Card - 512MB DDR2, PCI Express. My ATi 2400 256MB was not very good.

agumaRe:Vacation

ToddRe:Vacation
It was a Zenith computer made in the very early 90s. It couldn't handle Windows nor any GUI for that matter.

jasonwoodlandRe:Vacation
How did a screen work?

BrandonRe:Vacation
It still had to have a video card! Even the C64 from the 80's had one! My damn EPSON from 1987 or so, has a Paradise '88 video card.

ToddRe:Vacation
It wasn't a card though. It was a separate processor hard-wired into the motherboard for handling small graphics tasks, hence no GUIs working.

BrandonRe:Vacation
Its the same thing. If thats how you want to play my EEE has no grahics card cus its an integrated on the mobo. The card had to have a resolution of somekind? My EPSON is a fully VGA compatable machine.

ksrRe:Vacation
Thats technically correct though - it's not a dedicated card :P Anyway, I can't wait until Todd is in charge, then maybe something might get done! (LOL)

ToddRe:Vacation
Mine wasn't VGA. It could run EGA but VGA was out of its league. This is back when hard disks were 20-30 MB in size.

Hey kyle see that badge you have? It can be gone in 3 mins! BTW: Todd really has to rights, all he can do is edit/delete forum posts.

ToddRe:Vacation
A little off topic, but do you do much in PHP anymore, Kyle? A couple friends and I will be opening a site called "Dr. Developer" which will have focus on PHP projects and coding. I'll keep you posted about when we get it up. The forum is being worked on by one of the members so when he debugs it and gets it ready, we'll open the site.

BrandonRe:Vacation
A little off topic! A good moderator would delete it! Anyways my Epsons HDD is about 32MB I think.

BrandonNew Video Card
I got my 6600 512MB today. Its made by some no name company, Forsa, but works great. I haven't got Linux going with acceleration and everything quite yet but as soon as I do I'll compare. Windows is working heres a cool chart: Old Athlon: ATi HD2400 256MB PCIe Core 2: nVidia 6200 256MB AGP Expensive Dell: ATi X-something 256MB PCIe (note, GFX cards tests are dependent on CPU and this things CPU is half of the others) New Athlon: The New 6600 BTW: This results are from Randy's Benchmark 2: http://ranfo.com/freeware.html in case you want to see how you compare.

BrandonRe:New Video Card
Ok know for Linux. I downloaded the ATi Linux drivers right from their site and with glxgears I get 286. With my new card and the official nvidia driver i get 3335. If you want to see what your system gets boot up a big name linux (not DCL,Puppy, or DSL) and type "glxgears" in the terminal. Wait a few minute and it should give you a number in FPS.
