ToddChinese netbook update
Just thought I'd keep everyone posted on my work with the $100 Chinese netbook I got last week. Currently I am still looking for a way to get Linux on the netbook. Like most laptops and PCs, you can always boot via a USB thumb drive or CD/DVD. This netbook can boot from an SD card. Ironically I found a pirated copy of the Windows CE 6.0 ROM file they load onto all those suckers. I just reloaded WinCE onto it and it seems like if I ever get into trouble with a bootloader or have other issues, I can revert back to it with no trouble (so it seems). I found a copy of the Linux Kernel 2.6.28 on the ARM website however their bootloaders are specific to each CPU and I can't find one for the VT8500 (my CPU). On a forum topic on Ubuntu-Forums.org, I found someone trying to do the same thing as me. People have posted links to pages for overwriting sections of the NAND and doing this through Windows itself. One method suggested using TFTP to overwrite the NAND with uBootIt and then Linux. I'll give it a shot. It'll be interesting to see what happens.
