BrandonMy New Thin Client
The stuff that Todd and I traded arrived today. I need to get some AC adapters for the laptops and have to find time to test the motherboards, but one part I was particularly interested in, and made time to use it. The thin client says "Turbo Ninja" on it (in sharpie) and from my past ebay surfing with "blazing fast" Dell machines, you know that this thin client will be as "turbo" as a Dell P4 with XP is fast. Anyways, I opened the case to find the CF adapter, a CF card and a cable that had been "modded" to fit. I went to my cable drawer and got out and IDE cable that actually had 40pins, and an old CD to sound card cable with both grounds, I just off the little latches, installed everything, and got something along the lines of non-system disk. Next came out my old thin client and I removed its 4GB CF with FreeDOS and it booted fine. I wanted more than FreeDOS so I ripped apart my IDE to USB adapter so it was just being used to convert power and plugged the drive in to the thin client mobo. Booted up to Ubuntu, opened Firefox and here I am. Thanks for the nice thin client Todd :P

lol Glad the thin client worked out. I never got it to work but I wasn't going to wait over a month just for some stupid Chinese hardware to arrive to get it to work. I kinda figured you had the parts for it. I wrote "Turbo Ninja" on it. If I had the chance to get Linux on it, I was going to look for a picture of a fat ninja and put that as the background for the desktop. BTW: Thanks for the Eee! It's in great condition and really beats the hell out of that Chinese knockoff.

That EEE was impossible to use for me, it was just to small after using the Macbook. Really I'm happy with the deal, I didn't have to wait for international shipping and I got everything I need.

@Pharoah: lol! Mad props for the Farley Foto! @Brandon: lol I know how you feel. After using my netbook, I pulled out my Lifebook and it felt so big compared to the netbook. ;) Just glad it worked out. I needed to clear out some space and I didn't want to sell it on eBay since it's just a pain and their listing fees are outrageous!
